The Ford & Sons Cape American Legion Post 63 baseball team swept a doubleheader Monday night from visiting Metropolis, Ill., to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Despite collecting a total of seven hits, Cape Legion posted 2-1 and 3-0 victories at Capaha Field.

Jayden Pobst and Tyler Glidewell combined on a two-hitter in the opener. Pobst (1-0) pitched the first five inning, allowing one hit and striking out seven. Glidewell finished with one-hit relief over the final two innings for the save. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Jimmy Obermark and Josh Hiett had Cape's hits, while Blake Smith had a sacrifice fly.

Logan Morris and Trent St. Cin combined for a four-hitter in the second game. Morris (1-0) struck out 12 batters in five innings, allowing two hits and not isssuing a walk.

St. Cin struck out two batters, allowed two hits and walked one.

Dustin Crowden had an RBI double in the first inning. Obermark later added a run-scoring single.

Cape Legion posted a pair of victories Sunday afternoon against Perryville American Legion.

Cape won 15-1 and 2-0.

Josh Meyer recorded the win in the opener. St. Cin went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, while Jake Pewitt went 2 for 5.

Jamie Pickel notched the win in the nightcap and Ronnie Scott recorded the save. Crowden led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance.

Junior Legion

Jackson's Junior American Legion baseball team won its own tournament, defeating Plaza Tire Cape Junior Legion 10-3 in the championship game.

Logan Henson took the loss for Cape in the title game. Aaron Wendel had two hits for Cape.

Cape advanced to the championship game with a 9-3 victory against De Soto.

Adam Pennington picked up the win, striking out eight in five innings.

Justin Landewee led the offense with three hits.
