The Cape Girardeau Ford & Sons Post 63 American Legion baseball team yielded single runs in Sikeston's final three at-bats and dropped a 5-4 decision on the road Monday night.
After Sikeston took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Post 63 responded with four runs in the fourth for a 4-2 lead. The Silver Sox regained the lead with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Clayton Reynolds had a pair of doubles for Post 63, which had six hits overall.
Trent Probst had a double and two RBIs for Sikeston, which managed just four hits off three Cape pitchers who issued seven walks.
Losing pitcher Chase Hagerty allowed one hit and one run over 1 1/3 innings.
Josh Morse allowed two hits and three earned runs over the first four innings, striking out seven and walking three. Issac Pender allowed one hit and one run over 2/3 of an inning, walking three and striking out one.
Nathan Hampton pitched all seven innings for Sikeston. He struck out six and walked two.
