The Cape Junior Legion baseball team built up confidence for its first-round district tournament game with a 12-1 victory over host Scott County Junior Legion on Monday.

Cape banged out 15 hits in the win, including a 4-for-4 performance by Blake Klett.

Gavin Pobst went 3-for-4 and had the lone RBI for Scott County (2-14), which had eight hits.

Brent Forck, who went the distance for Scott County on the mound and took the loss, had a double and scored a run.

The two teams will meet again in the first round of the three-team district tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday at Legion Field in Jackson. Scott County is the No. 3 seed, while Cape is No. 2 and Jackson the No. 1 seed.
