The first two rounds of the Junior Legion State Tournament went extremely well for the Cape Girardeau Post 63 team. The third round was a bit more heartbreaking.

A win away from the championship game, Cape fell to Sedalia Post 642 in walk-off fashion, 1-0, at Ronsick Field in Washington, Missouri, on Friday.

The only run of the game came for Sedalia in the bottom of the seventh inning.

After scoring 14 runs in the tournament's first two games combined, Post 63 mustered only three hits against Post 642. Two of those came off the bat of Jacquen Cummins, including a double.

Austin Dill had the other hit for Cape.

Cummins suffered the loss on the mound for Post 63, scattering six hits in 6 2/3 innings of work, striking out one and walking one.

Cape Girardeau will face host Washington in an elimination game today at 1 p.m. The winner will move into the championship round to take on Sedalia at 3:30 p.m.

Post 63 defeated Washington 6-2 on Thursday.
