Cape Girardeau's American Legion team improved to 1-1 in the Paducah (Ky.) Tournament with a 7-5 win over Festus (Mo.) in eight innings on Friday. Ford & Sons (9-16) picked up three runs in the top of the eighth, with a big blow coming off the bat of Zac Hudson. With runners on first and second, Hudson went up to the plate looking to sacrifice. Cape Girardeau's American Legion team improved to 1-1 in the Paducah (Ky.) Tournament with a 7-5 win over Festus (Mo.) in eight innings on Friday.

Ford & Sons (9-16) picked up three runs in the top of the eighth, with a big blow coming off the bat of Zac Hudson. With runners on first and second, Hudson went up to the plate looking to sacrifice. After seeing the infield charge, Hudson drew back the bunt and smacked a pitch through the infied for the go-ahead RBI.

Sean Bard followed with an RBI single and finished the game with two hits and three RBIs. Jason Schenimann tied the game in the seventh with a two-out RBI single.

Cory Huskey pitched all eight innings to get the win for Ford & Sons. Huskey did not allow an earned run while scattering eight hits. Huskey added five strike outs and only one walk.

Cape will continue play in Paducah today with a game against Shelbyville, Ky.

Jackson (12-5), also playing in Paducah, evened its tournament record at 1-1 with a 4-1 win over Campbellsville, Ky. Austin Morrison pitched all seven innings for the win. Morrison allowed one unearned run on four hits, with two strikeouts and one walk.

Offensively, Jake Carter led the RE/MAX Achievers with two hits. Jason Meystedt had the big blow with a bases-loaded two-RBI double in Jackson's three-run fifth.

Jackson will play host Paducah today.
