The Plaza Tire Capahas did not let an unexpected late start adversely affect them Tuesday night.
Plaza Tire and the St. Louis Printers were scheduled to begin their game in Ste. Genevieve at 7:30 p.m., but there were no umpires.
By the time umpires got to the contest, it did not get under way until about 8:45 p.m.
Not to worry. The Capahas continued to roll, winning 5-2 in a game shortened to seven innings due to the late start.
The Capahas improved to 16-1 with their ninth straight victory.
Kenton Parmley's two-run homer in the top of the first inning staked the Capahas to a quick 2-0 lead.
The Printers tied it with a two-run third inning and could have had more but reliever Jason Flores got a double play with the bases loaded and one out.
Thigs remained 2-2 until the Capahas went ahead for good with a three-run sixth inning. Parmley had the big blow, a two-RBI single.
Parmley started on the mound and went 2 1/3 innings. He allowed just one hit but walked four and was charged with two runs.
Flores notched the victory with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Caleb Guilliams pitched the final two innings scoreless for a save.
Plaza Tire outhit the Printers 8-3. Parmley went 2 for 2 with two walks. Paul Cavaness and John Logan Zink added two hits apiece.
The Capahas return to action this weekend with a pair of home doubleheaders, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against the St. Louis Golden Spikes and at 2 p.m. Sunday against the I-70 Thunder from Flora, Ill.
