VALMEYER, Ill. -- The Plaza Tire Capahas suffered a two-hit loss in the opener of a doulbeheader with Valmeyer but came right back with a one-hitter of their own to split a pair of shutouts on Saturday.
Jamie McAlister was the hard-luck loser in a 3-0 opening loss for the Capahas (27-8). McAlister allowed three runs on six hits in six innings.
"McAlister didn't pitch too bad, he just didn't have any runs to work with," Capahas manager Jess Bolen said.
Chad Bogenpohl returned the favor for the Capahas in the nightcap, allowing only one hit in a 10-0 win. PlazaTire exploded with eight runs in the second on three home runs.
Levi Olson hit a two-run home run, Eric Horstman added a three-run shot and Bryan Kurt had another two-run home run. Robby Moore added two hits and two runs.
The Capahas will hit the field this week in the Evansville Tournament, which begins on Monday.
