O'FALLON, Mo. -- The Craftsman Union Capahas and St. Louis Printers split a doubleheader Monday night, the Capahas dropping the opener 5-0 but rebounding for an 11-2 victory in the nightcap.
Both games were played at T.R. Hughes Ballpark, which is the home of the River City Rascals independent league professional team.
"The Printers have a very good team and we should have some excellent games with them this year," said Capahas manager Jess Bolen.
In the opener, the Capahas (5-3) had just two hits, one each by Denver Stuckey and Dan Berry. Brad Purcell pitched all six innings and took the loss. He allowed five hits and three earned runs while striking out 10 and walking two.
Lanson Debrock notched the victory in the nightcap. In six innings, he allowed six hits and two runs, with five strikeouts and no walks. James Beever hurled a hitless seventh.
Stuckey went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs while Scott Reinagel also homered, a monster shot over the scoreboard.
Chris Sledge, Tristen McDonald, Josh Eftink and Jody Gaweski all added two hits for the Capahas.
