The Plaza Tire Capahas snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the host St. Louis Golden Spikes on Wednesday.
The Capahas used two-run doubles by Alex Heuring and Brandon Bennett in evening their season-record against the Spikes at 2-2 and improving to 14-6 overall.
Plaza Tire did not make an error behind winning pitcher Andrew Williams, who allowed eight hits and all three runs in the eighth inning in a complete game.
"We needed a game like that," Capahas manager Jess Bolen said. "We sharpened up a little bit, and hopefully that carries over."
Plaza Tire broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the top of the fourth. Drew Morecraft provided the first run with an RBI single, and Alex Heuring followed with his double to make it 3-0.
Bennett uncorked his two-run double in the next inning for a 5-0 lead.
The lead grew to 6-0 on an RBI double by Adam Connor in the eighth, before the Spikes struck in the bottom half.
Chase Simmons had three hits, including a double, in the Capahas' 10-hit attack.
"We played a pretty decent game tonight considering all the time off," said Bolen, who saw his team rained out in a doubleheader Sunday.
The Capahas close their regular season this weekend at home. The Capahas host the St. Louis Printers in a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader Saturday, then host the Charleston Riverdogs in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Sunday.
