It looked like the Kohlfeld Capahas might be in danger of losing their undefeated status Friday night -- for all of one-half inning.

The Paducah (Ky.) Chiefs scored a run in the top of the first inning to grab a 1-0 lead.

So, perhaps the Chiefs had upset visions in their minds? Not for long. The Capahas hit Paducah with 20 unanswered runs as they romped 20-2 at Capaha Field. The game was stopped after the top of the seventh inning because of the 10-run rule.

The rampaging Capahas improved to 16-0 while the Chiefs fell to 4-3. The squads will have a rematch today with a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader in Kentucky.

"We're just hot right now. That's about all you can say," said Capahas' manager Jess Bolen. "All phases of our game are really clicking. You never know how long it will last, but we've got a good ballclub."

The Capahas still have a long way to go before they begin to threaten the team's all-time longest winning streak at the beginning of a season: 28.

"We're still a long way off of that," Bolen said. "That's a record that could be hard to top, but you never know."

Kohlfeld banged out 18 hits and also took advantage of nine errors by the normally solid Chiefs, who have had respectable teams over the years.

"They've been a good ballclub in the past," Bolen said. "You don't think they'll be looking for some revenge (today), do you?"

Ryan Murphy led the Capahas offensively with four hits, including a triple and a double. He also scored four runs.

Tom Breuer and Darin Kinsolving both had three hits, with Kinsolving driving in three runs and Breuer delivering two RBIs.

Cory Crosnoe added two hits and four RBIs.

David Michel pitched all seven innings to get the victory. He allowed seven hits while striking out four and walking three.

Ryan Frazine took the loss. In three innings, he allowed 11 hits and 14 runs, only four of them earned.

Casey Johnson had three hits to lead the Chiefs.

Shawn Waller's RBI single in the opening inning scored Greg Roof, who had walked, to give the Chiefs a short-lived 1-0 lead.

The Capahas tied it in the bottom of the first, then took the lead for good with a five-run second that featured an RBI triple by Murphy.

Kohlfeld's onslaught continued the remainder of the night. The Capahas scored four in the third, five in the fourth and five in the fifth. Paducah scored its other run in the seventh.
