Newcomer Laban Petzoldt belted his first home run with the Capahas and added a bases-loaded triple as Plaza Tire completed a sweep of visiting Fairview Heights with a 7-5 victory Saturday.
With the Capahas leading 2-1 in the second, Petzoldt blasted a solo home run. His triple made it 6-1 in the third inning, giving him four RBIs. The Redbirds pulled within 6-5 with a four-run fifth, but Ramsey Scott provided an insurance run for the Capahas with a solo home run in the sixth.
Starting pitcher Grant Grey recorded the win, allowing four runs -- two earned -- over four innings. Justin Landewee threw two innings, and Kenton Parmley escaped a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the final inning for the save.
Chase Simmons, Adam Connor and Petzoldt all finished with two hits for the Capahas (8-2), who had 10 hits overall.
