The Notre Dame girls basketball team limped into halftime after shooting 13 percent in the first two quarters Wednesday.

What made the Bulldogs' woes even worse is that St. Joseph's shot 76 percent in the opening half.

The Angels enjoyed an 18-point lead at halftime and cruised to the 77-43 victory. St. Joseph's entered the game ranked No. 10 in Class 5 in the latest Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association poll. Notre Dame was ranked No. 10 in Class 4.

"We've had back-to-back road games," Notre Dame coach Renee Peters said. "They're probably the best team we've seen so far this year. They were very physical. They were very big. They were just good. They ran the floor really well."

Emily Brumitt led the Bulldogs with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Jane Morrill added 10 points in the loss.

"We knew it was going to be a challenge going in," Peters said. "In the first half, we did outrebound them, but we only shot 13 percent from the field."

The Bulldogs dropped to 11-5 with the loss.
