The Notre Dame girls basketball team fought off Ste. Genevieve 56-43 on Wednesday to earn a spot in the Class 4 District 1 championship game.

"It was a good win for us," Notre Dame coach Renee Peters said. "I'm very happy to be playing in the finals."

Notre Dame was led by junior Jane Morrill's 19 points. Allyson Bradshaw added 12 and Alex Fowler netted 11.

The Bulldogs tip off against the top-ranked team in Class 4, Dexter, at 6 p.m. Friday in Sikeston.

"We are going to really have to come with our A game," Peters said.

Holli Shemonia hit two free throws with 6 seconds left to give the Rams the lead and win.

Stephanie Essner led all scorers with 25 points and added nine rebounds. Katie Hogan tallied 15 points and 11 boards for Scott City (9-13).

Chelsie Boxdorfer and Courtney Besand each had 12 points for the Indians.
