Special to the Southeast Missourian
Kevin Bryant of Cape Girardeau won the Bass Busters of SEMO bass tournament last weekend at Kentucky Lake.
Bryant used a very reliable spring pattern on Kentucky Lake to catch his limit. He focused on flooded buck brush in the backs of major creeks, keying on hard bottom areas. His fish fell to a one-two punch using a Bandit Foot Loose crankbait in Firetiger for the aggressive fish and a 5/16 Eakins Jig by Jewel in blue/black for neutral fish.
Brad Noel of Jackson took second place using similar baits and techniques, also focusing on buck brush in the backs of creeks. Both men were fishing the three creeks in the Moors' area of the lake.
Rodney Enderle of Jackson took big bass honors for a 4-pound plus fish he caught was using a 1/2-ounce white Little Hustler spinnerbait on main lake island structure.
The conditions were cloudy with a mild easterly wind. Air temperature was in the mid-70s and the water temperature was around 70 degrees. Most of the fish were in the post-spawn transition phase.
