Southeast Missouri State University women's soccer coach Heather Nelson's recruiting emphasis in the St. Louis area continued to pay dividends Wednesday.

On the first day of the national signing period, Nelson landed eight players all of them high school seniors from the St. Louis area.

The eight signees and their high schools are Michelle Frossard (Ursuline Academy), Marla Gianino (Hazelwood Central), Laura Hauskins (St. Dominic), Katherine Huelsing (Nerinx Hall), Heather Reding (Incarnate Word), Lisa Schweppe (St. Charles West), Lauren Zacheis (Incarnate Word) and Erin Slattery (St. Joseph's).

Gianino, Huelsing, Schweppe and Slattery all played for the powerful Busch Soccer Club of St. Louis that is one of the nation's top club programs.
