CHARLESTON -- Some of the state's top high school girls basketball teams will take part in the 19th annual Charleston Invitational Tournament that tips off tonight.

Jackson, ranked third in the most recent Class 4A state poll, is the No. 1 seed, with Poplar Bluff -- rated fifth in 4A -- second.

Notre Dame, ranked seventh in 2A, is the third seed, with Cape Girardeau Central fourth, New Madrid County Central fifth, Scott County Central sixth and Charleston seventh.

As the top seed, Jackson received a first-round bye.

Only one game will be played tonight as Cape Central faces New Madrid at 7. The other two first-round games will be Wednesday, with Poplar Bluff playing Charleston at 6 and Notre Dame taking on Scott Central at 7:30.

The semifinals are set for Thursday at 7 and 8:30, with the championship game Saturday at 7. Also Saturday, there will be the consolation final at 4 and the third-place game at 5:30.
