What had been known for the past several weeks was officially announced Monday when Southeast Missouri State University repeated as champion of the Ohio Valley Conference women's all-sports trophy for 1996-97.
The all-sports trophy is a symbol of overall athletic excellence in conference-sponsored championships.
Southeast's women captured their third straight all-sports trophy. The Otahkians were conference champions in volleyball, indoor track and field, softball and outdoor track and field.
Middle Tennessee State won the men's all-sports trophy for the second year in a row. Southeast's men were sixth in the 10-team OVC.
