Southeast Missouri State University's baseball team has signed three junior-college players during the early signing period. The three will compete for the Indians in the 2000 season.
Michael Mitchell is a catcher at Westark JC in Arkansas. He batted .300 with five home runs and 35 runs batted in last season.
Jeff Hilz is a lefthanded pitcher at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff. He struck out 70 in 60 innings and had a 3.95 earned-run average last year.
Shane Allen is an infielder at Meramec College in St. Louis. He hit .380 with nine homers and 40 RBIs last season.
"We feel good about the three we signed early," said Southeast coach Mark Hogan. "We will have some other areas to address in the spring in our recruiting because we will be losing quite a bit of our lineup after this season."
