The Rams defeated West County 7-3 on Wednesday to advance to the baseball final four for the first time since they won a state championship in 2008.

The Scott City baseball team is back in the final four for the first time since winning a state championship in 2008 after defeating West County 7-3 on Wednesday at Scott City High School.

Junior Trent Pobst was 3 for 3 for the Rams with five RBIs and three runs scored while sophomore Braden Cox got the complete-game win.

Scott City, playing at home but the visitor on the scoreboard after a pregame coin flip, never trailed in the contest.

The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Pobst and Jordan Kluesner.

West County tied it in the bottom of the inning, but Scott City regained the lead for good in the second on Pobst's two-RBI single.

The Rams added a run on Pobst's solo home run in the fifth and two more in the seventh.

Scott City will face the winner of Wednesday night's contest between Warsaw and Summit Christian at 4:30 p.m. Monday at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, Missouri.
