PERRYVILLE -- Perryville High's boys basketball team scored in the waning seconds of regulation play to force overtime, but saw Chester, Ill., prevail 63-62 Saturday night.
Perryville (6-9) rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to force the extra period. They trailed 48-41 at the start of the period and finally pulled even with four seconds left on a Ryan Verseman layin.
Chester held a 5-4 scoring advantage in overtime as the Pirates missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer.
Verseman led Pirates with 19 points. Michael Downen added 13 points while Ryan Wischern netted 11 and Tyler Abernathy 10.
