The Perryville football team lost its season-opener 27-8 to Herculaneum at home.
Wyatt McAfee scored on a 1-yard run for the Pirates lone touchdown in the second quarter.
McAfee had 13 carries for 46 yards and the touchdown. He also had 14 yards receiving on two catches.
Jonny Pruiett had two carries for 39 yards, while Kirk Hadler recorded 20 yards on 11 carries.
Levi Zook had 11 carries for 50 yards, and the Pirates rushed for 175 total yards.
Quarterback Chris Zahner was 5 of 13 passing for 49 yards.
Cody Call added three catches for 35 yards.
The game was scoreless at the end of the first quarter.
Herculaneum went ahead 13-8 in the second and then scored seven points in both the third and fourth quarters.
Perryville will play at De Soto at 7 p.m. on Friday.
