CAIRO -- Bryan Kelpe won the Cairo Levee Foot Race's overall championship to lead a strong showing by Cape Girardeau runners in the recent event.
Kelpe won the 3.1-mile men's race in 16:43 while Jason Zallares of Cape placed second in 17:39.
Meanwhile, Candace Wiggin of Cape won the 3.1-mile women's race in 23:32.
In the 6.2-mile run, Cape's Ron Keller finished first among the men in 35:49. Bob Zeller of Cape was second in 41:32.
Joy Gilbert finished first in the women's 6.2 mile run, covering the course in 45:25. Andrea Siemer of Jackson placed second in 47:32.
