ARNOLD -- Jackson High's wrestling team finished third out of 10 squads Saturday as the Fox Tournament concluded.
Wentzville was first with 364 points, followed by Fox with 304.5 and Jackson with 293.5. Sikeston was ninth with 91 while Cape Girardeau Central brought up the rear with 90.
Jackson had 11 wrestlers place in the top six of their respective weight classes. Brett Stroud (125 pounds) and Adam Wachter (140) were first while J.P. Sides (103) and Willie Southerland (171) were second.
Finishing third were Josh Denecke (145) and Ricky Feiner (112). Cyle Huck (135) and James Love (152) were fourth; Luke Wade (heavyweight) placed fifth; and Chris Brown (130) and Seth Harrell (189) were sixth."I thought we wrestled real well for our first tournament," said Jackson coach Steve Wachter.
Placing for Cape Central were Leland Wolk (second, 145); O.J. Turner (third, 171); and Nick Harter (sixth, 160)."It was a tough tournament, but our kids wrestled hard," said Cape Central coach Josh Crowell.
