FREDERICKTOWN -- Jackson High's baseball team ripped two home runs and the Indians scored 10 unanswered runs to post a 10-3 victory over host Fredericktown Wednesday. Travis Stevens sent a two-run homer off the wall in left field in a three-run third inning and Burt Hahs later launched a solo shot to left in a two-run sixth. FREDERICKTOWN -- Jackson High's baseball team ripped two home runs and the Indians scored 10 unanswered runs to post a 10-3 victory over host Fredericktown Wednesday.

Travis Stevens sent a two-run homer off the wall in left field in a three-run third inning and Burt Hahs later launched a solo shot to left in a two-run sixth. After going scoreless in the first inning, Jackson (4-2) scored in each of the remaining six innings.

Stevens also had a triple and finished with three RBIs.

Josh Adams and Todd Wessel each added a pair of hits as the Indians finished with 10 overall.

Jason Goben went the distance on the mound for Jackson, allowing seven hits. One of the hits was a two-run, first-inning home run by Bill Hardin as Fredericktown jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Goben struck out nine without issuing a walk.

Jackson will host New Madrid Friday.

Delta 4, Chaffee 1

DELTA -- Kenny Goebler used his arms and legs Wednesday in helping Delta to its first victory of the season after three losses.

Goebler struck out 12 Red Devils in seven innings and allowed just three hits. Goebler also stole three bases in the first inning, including a steal of home for a 1-0 lead.

Chaffee's Matt Hanlon allowed just four hits, but one was a two-out, two-run double to Garrett DeBrock in a three-run fifth. Hanlon struck out 11 batters.

Chaffee (1-4) scored its lone run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Matt Graham.

The Red Devils host Scott County Central today. Delta visits Bell City Friday.

GIRLS SOFTBALL

Kelly 11, Notre Dame 10

BENTON -- Kelly remained undefeated as the Lady Hawks held on for a thrilling victory over visiting Notre Dame Wednesday.

Kim Riley earned the victory as she pitched all seven innings. Jill Huber, in relief of starter Randi Senciboy, suffered the loss.

Kelly (4-0) had 12 hits, led by Ashley Beggs with three. Audrey Burford, Pam Essner and Natalie Robert all added two hits, with Robert belting a home run.

Notre Dame (1-3), which had 13 hits, was led by Senciboy with two doubles, a single and three RBIs. Sara Morrow and Becka Montgomery both had two hits.

Kelly visits Charleston today while Notre Dame travels to St. Pius Saturday.

Chaffee 10, Delta 0

DELTA -- Chaffee's shutout streak continued Wednesday as the Lady Red Devils blanked host Delta in a six-inning, run-rule game.

The Lady Devils are now 5-0 -- and they have not allowed a run all season.

Jamie Duncan was the winning pitcher. She allowed two hits and one walk while striking out five.

Chaffee had 11 hits. Kelly Glueck had three along with two RBIs. Wendy Hanselman and Amy Goetz both added two hits. Hanselman stole three bases.

"It's nice to see how long you can keep something like that going," said Chaffee coach Mark Devenport of the shutout streak.

Chaffee hosts Scott County Central today. Delta goes to Bell City Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Central 3, Poplar Bluff 1

POPLAR BLUFF -- Cape Central improved to 7-0 by winning on the road Wednesday. The Lady Tigers have allowed just two goals all season.

Nichole Thiele scored two goals while Lori Bittle had one. Abby Harris, Ashley Skinner and Christy Schmitt all had assists.

Central's JV prevailed 4-0 as Corie Nunnally had two goals. Emilee Atchley and Jennifer Daume both scored one.

The Lady Tigers host Notre Dame next Tuesday.

Notre Dame 165, Clearwater 194

JACKSON -- Dan Buerck shot a 3-over par 39 on the front nine to lead Notre Dame past visiting Clearwater Wednesday.

Chris Koepper followed with a 40 while Matt Howard shot 42 and Jonathan LeGrand fired 44. Notre Dame improved to 5-3.

"That might be our best score we've shot at Bent Creek," said Notre Dame coach Chris Janet. "I'm real pleased with it."

Scott Twidwell paced Clearwater with a 43.

Notre Dame visits Perryville Friday.

Jackson 160, Dexter 187

DEXTER -- Jackson improved to 6-0 by winning Wednesday's dual meet on the road.

The Indians were led by John Litzelfelner (37). Other scores for Jackson were Gabe Estes (38), Clint Faries (42) and Travis Reiminger (43).

Jackson visits Clearwater today.

JV BASEBALL

Notre Dame sweeps Central

Notre Dame's JV improved to 4-1 by sweeping a doubleheader from visiting Cape Central Wednesday, winning 7-3 in seven innings and 10-0 in five innings.

Brian Obermann fanned 15 and allowed three hits in the opener. Adam Seyer, Andrew Mueller and Wes Steele all had two hits.

Tommy Wencewicz allowed two hits and fanned six in pitching the second-game shutout. Matt Essner and Mark Ostendorf both had two hits.

BOYS TENNIS

Central 8, DeSoto 1

Cape Central is now 3-2 after rolling past visiting DeSoto Wednesday.

The Tigers swept the six singles matches and won two of the three doubles matches.

Central's JV prevailed 4-0.

The Tigers will host perennial Kentucky power Lone Oak today.
