JACKSON -- The ninth annual Jackson Invitational, featuring some of the state's top softball programs, will be hosted by Jackson High School Saturday at the Jackson City Park.
Sixteen teams are entered, with games to be played on the three fields by the city swimming pool and the two Brookside fields. Admission donation is $2 for adults and $1 for students 6 and over.
There will be eight first-round games, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and 9:55 a.m.
The 8:30 matchups are Cape Central vs. Lutheran South; Cape Notre Dame vs. Oakville; Jackson vs. Vienna, Ill.; Perryville vs. Seckman; and Hannibal vs. St. Louis Notre Dame.
The 9:55 pairings are Kelly vs. Cor Jesu, Lafayette vs. Fox and East Carter Co. vs. St. Clair.
Quarterfinals are set for 9:55 a.m. and 11:20 a.m., with the semifinals at 2:10 p.m. and the championship at 5 p.m.
