The Heat, based in Benton, Mo., fell to a squad from Hawaii 3-0 as pitcher Erin Sing set a tournament record with 15 strikeouts. Bridgett Riley was the losing hurler as the Heat had just one hit.

But the Heat finished pool play with a 3-1 record as they qualified for the six-team double-elimination portion of the event.
