BALLARD, Ky. -- While Mark McGwire, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa were swinging for the fences in the Home Run Derby at Boston, Chaffee's hitters played a little long-ball tag of their own.
Josh Eftink hit three homers, Brad Kolwyck hit two and Brandon Amick hit one as the Chaffee Senior Legion baseball team stuck it to Ballard County 16-5 Monday night.
Eftink went 3-for-4 with eight runs batted in and two walks. He had an opportunity to hit a fourth homer, but Ballard County pitched around Eftink, who now has 18 home runs this summer, in his last plate appearance.
Kolwyck, meanwhile hit two homers, but had only four RBIs to show for it because he was batting behind Eftink. In fact, Eftink and Kolwyck went deep back-to-back twice. Kolwyck had four hits.
Amick's shot was one of his three hits.
Lance Amick provided two hits and scored five runs.
Brandon Amick was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits and a walk, while striking out six.
Eftink pitched two innings and allowed one run on three hits. He fanned two.
Tommy Stidham struck out two in one inning of relief.
