POPLAR BLUFF -- The Cape Girardeau Senior Babe Ruth Yankees split a Sunday doubleheader with host Poplar Bluff, losing 4-2 and romping 13-0 in five innings.
Cape (3-2) had just four hits in the opener, two by Ryan Essex. James Powell pitched all seven innings, allowing six hits.
Scott Wittenborn was the star of the nightcap. He pitched a two-hit shutout and helped his own cause with two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs.
Ricky Ogles had two hits and two RBIs while Ben Martin added two RBIs.
