NEW MADRID -- Cape Central's ninth-grade boys captured a five-team meet at New Madrid Saturday, outdistancing the host by 28 points.

Central took first in four events: Gabe Austin won the 1,600 in 5:00 and the 800 in 2:21; Mark Stone took the 3,200 in 11:01; and Casey Dwyer won the pole vault with a 10-0 effort.

In 8th-grade competition, Central's boys finished fourth among seven teams with 66 points. Poplar Bluff finished first with 105.5 points.

Central's Jordan White placed first in the 400 in 57.0 seconds.
