BRIEFLY: CAPE C.C. HOLDS MEMBER-GUEST TOURNEY

Mark Johnson and Jerry Joiner teamed up to win the low gross category in the Member-Guest Tournament held this past weekend at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Johnson and Joiner had rounds of 66 and 63 to finish with a 129 total.

The team of Tom Hamilton and Jack Green, which finished with a 130 gross total, placed first in championship low net at 60-58--118. Hamilton and Greene (61-57--118) won in a playoff with Mike Uhls and Tom Keyton, winning on the first playoff hole.

Other low net flight winners: Mike Bennett and Mark Hogan (A), Jerry Brey and Dan Streepy (B) and Richard Allgood and George Loucks (C).

A total of 71 two-man teams competed in the tournament.

On Saturday, Joe Allgood won the horse-race competition as he was the last player left among the 10 qualifiers. In the elimination play, Jack Smith finished `Place' and Tim Coad took `Show'.

Among the 10 golfers, Mark Johnson, Ron Seabaugh and Mark McDowell led with qualifying rounds of 71.

Also in the tournament, Jack Greene recorded a hole-in-one in Sunday's second round. Greene used a 9-iron on No. 13, a 145-yard par three. It was Greene's second career ace.

Witnessing the shot were Hamilton, Johnson and Joiner.
