Chris Bradshaw, one of the top players for Cape Girardeau Central High's baseball team this past season, will be taking his skills to Mineral Area College.
Bradshaw, who graduated from Central this year, earlier this week signed a letter of intent with the junior college in Park Hills.
"I'm pretty happy about going there," said Bradshaw. "I think it's best for me right now."
As a senior for the Tigers this year, Bradshaw batted .347 with two home runs and 19 runs batted in. He also drew 20 walks while primarily playing third base.
A three-year starter at Central, Bradshaw has also played the outfield and catcher for the Tigers.
"Chris had a solid career with us," said Central coach Steve Williams. "He had a good year as a sophomore and he struggled some as a junior, but he bounced back and had a real good year as a senior. He was one of our most consistent players."
Williams said Bradshaw, who is currently playing for Cape Girardeau's Ford & Sons American Legion baseball team, should benefit from his two years at Mineral Area College.
"Chris will be able to help their program, get two good years of baseball and school in and maybe go on to play some place after that," Williams said. "I think it's a good move for him and I'm happy for him."
