Southeast Missouri State University's baseball program has reeled in one more honor for the 1998 season.
It was announced Sunday that Jeff Bourbon has been named to the 1998 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team.
Bourbon, selected as a utility player, is the first Southeast freshman to ever gain All-American honors.
A former star at Potosi High School, Bourbon had an impressive redshirt freshman season this year. He batted .321 with 15 doubles, eight home runs and 39 runs batted in as he was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference second team.
Bourbon, who primarily played first base for the Indians this year but also saw some action at catcher and designated hitter, joined teammate Ryan Spille as Southeast All-Americans this season.
Spille was named to the Louisville Slugger All-American third team last week.
