Under the NHL lottery system, the five teams with the fewest points had a chance to win the first overall selection.

Also Thursday, the Blues decided to keep left wing Keith Tkachuk, exercising a $3.8 million option for next season Thursday.

Tkachuk, 34, had 15 goals and 21 assists in 41 games this season after reporting overweight to training camp.
