Blues' Johnson has easy night

ST. LOUIS -- Brent Johnson had little to do in earning his second shutout of the season.

Johnson faced just nine shots and Keith Tkachuk scored two goals, leading the Blues to a 4-0 victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night.

Johnson was excited about the opportunity to face ex-Blues goalie Roman Turek for the first time since Turek was traded to Calgary.

"I was pumped up for this game, especially (playing) against Roman," said Johnson, who backed Turek last season. "I was raring to go. There just wasn't much for me to do.

"We were making plays. Our scorers were coming back and playing great defensively. We did a lot right tonight."

Chris Pronger and Dallas Drake added goals for the Blues, who scored a pair of power-play goals and outshot Calgary 35-9.

St. Louis had scored just three goals on its last 23 power plays entering the game.

"From start to finish, it was probably one of our best efforts of the season," defenseman Al MacInnis said. "It was as full a 60 minutes as we've played."

Calgary's nine shots were a season low. The Flames had 17 shots against Dallas on Dec. 14.

The Flames had two shots on goal in the first period and managed just six total shots in two periods.

A low number of shots made for a difficult game, according to Johnson.

"It's a tough game," he said. "You'd think it would be a pretty simple game, but it was kinda nerve-racking, you know, leading just 1-0. A shot can squeak by at any time. You have to stay focused and help the guys out as much as you can."
