JEFFERSON CITY -- Tobie Bittle led Cape Central's opening day efforts with a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run Friday at the Missouri State Class 3A-4A Track and Field Championships.

Bittle clocked 2:18.23 in the event.

Cape Central's Marissa Uzoaru placed eighth in the triple jump with 35-feet, 1-inch.

The Lady Tigers stood tied for 12th with Rolla and Carthage with six points. Liberty held the first-day lead with 22 points.

Devree Flint of Jackson finished fifth in the shot put with a heave of 52-11 1/4.

Jackson entered today's competition in 20th place with four points. Jefferson City occupied first with 27 points. Cape Central's boys did not record any first-day points.

In 3A, Perryville's boys 4x800 relay team placed fourth in 8:03.85. The team was comprised of Nathan Davis, Ryan Hohenadel, Tyson Brown and Jared Tanz.

Perryville is currently tied for 15th place with five points. Logan-Rogersville leads with 16 points.
