WEST PLAINS -- Advance High's dream boys basketball season had a nightmarish ending here Saturday night as Billings rallied in the second half for a 62-58 Class 1A quarterfinal victory.
Billings (24-6) thus advances to next weekend's Class 1A Final Four in Columbia. Advances finishes at 27-5.
Trailing by two points in the closing seconds, Advance failed on two straight possessions to either tie or take the lead.
Billings' Brett Robertson then hit two free throws with 12 seconds left for a 60-56 lead. Advance's Jon French scored a layup with seven seconds left to pull the Hornets within 60-58, but Billings' Jason Rapp made two foul shots with four seconds remaining to seal the win.
No individual scoring totals were available at press time.
