Beem was at 19-under 197. Mark Calcavecchia had a 65 and was one shot behind at 18 under.

Carl Petterson, who finished his second round Saturday morning by tying the Palm course record with a 62, was at 18 under with three holes to play on the Magnolia course. Petterson also tied the tournament's 36-hole record at 17-under 127.
