MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Southeast Missouri State University's baseball team tuned up for this weekend's big series with Eastern Illinois by rallying past host Memphis 4-3 Wednesday night.

The Indians trailed 3-2 heading into the top of the ninth inning, but they came up with two runs to go ahead and then ace pitcher Ryan Spille closed the door on the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth.

"Our ballclub wouldn't say no tonight," said Southeast coach Mark Hogan. "This is a big win for our program. I'm thrilled for our kids."

Southeast is now 9-11 while Memphis fell to 12-8.

Kyle Yount led off in the ninth with a single and he came home on Phil Warren's double to center. Darin Kinsolving sacrificed Warren to third and Steve Lowe then delivered a sacrifice fly to center field.

"Steve is a good line-drive hitter and as a senior he has experience in that kind of situation," said Hogan.

Spille, the Indians' ace starter, got the win in relief as he improved to 5-0. The senior left-hander allowed no runs and no hits over the final 2 1/3 innings. He struck out one and walked one.

"Ryan was masterful," Hogan said.

Other hurlers performed well for Southeast. Start Daniel Rodriguez allowed three hits in four scoreless innings. And Lanson DeBrock, despite allowing a run, fanned three in one inning.

Memphis starter Josh Padgett was impressive, allowing just three hits and no earned runs in seven innings.

The Tigers out-hit the Indians nine to five.

Southeast played without leading hitter Jeremy Johnson, who has a strained hamstring but should be ready to go this weekend when Eastern Illinois comes to Cape Girardeau for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series.
