Southeast Missouri State University interim athletic director Carroll Williams says a review of the school's men's basketball program is not yet finished but is coming to a close.
"It's drawing to a conclusion, but in order to be accurate, it's a very slow process," said Williams. "It's much more time consuming than anybody would realize."
Making the process even slower than it normally might be, said Williams, is the fact he also serves as the school's golf coach and has been out of town frequently because of tournaments the Indians have been competing in.
"I've been gone with golf a lot and it's hard for me to be a part of it when I'm gone," Williams said.
School officials first confirmed several weeks ago that a review of the men's basketball program was going on after being questioned by the Southeast Missourian.
The Missourian also learned -- and Southeast officials confirmed -- that Ohio Valley Conference commissioner Dan Beebe was asked to assist with the program's review.
It has never been made totally clear why the review was initially called for or what Southeast officials are trying to find out through the review, but it is known that several players were questioned by school officials and Beebe regarding their knowledge of various details within the men's basketball program.
