Sara Sprigg
School: Cape Central
Sport: Diving
Coach: Dayna Powell
Week Report: Sprigg, a junior, posted a state-qualifying score of 212.10 last Saturday at the Springfield Invitational. The score was the second highest recorded in school history and the best since 1994 when Grayson Erlbacher posted a 218.
Season Report: This makes the second consecutive year Sprigg has made the state cut. Sprigg would've likely made the state cut earlier this year, but has been battling injuries to both ankles.
Coach's Comments: "We haven't seen many that are better than Sara this year," Powell said. "She got third this past weekend but it was pretty even. If she could develop another twist dive, I think she can dive with just about anybody in the state. We haven't seen the Kansas City divers, but we've seen the Springfield divers and the St. Louis divers and Sara is right up there. I look for Sara to maybe break the school record at state if we dive well. Sara has a gymnast background and she really has a talent for the sport. Her reverse dives are her best dives. In fact a collegiate diving coach said she had the prettiest reversal and a half of anyone in the meet. I think she could dive in college."
