Jason Greer
School: Woodland
Sport: Basketball
Coach: Jennings Wilkinson
Week Report: Greer scored 16 points -- all in the second half -- as the Class 2A Woodland Cardinals shocked the 4A Jackson Indians 59-51 in Jackson last Tuesday. Last Friday, Greer, a 5-foot-11 senior guard, scored 23 against Zalma.
Season Report: Greer is averaging 15.4 points per game. He leads his team in assists at three per game, grabs 4.3 rebounds per contest and shoots 81 percent from the free throw line.
Coach's Comments: "Jason is an excellent shooter, one of the better around," Wilkinson said. "His shot is textbook and he works hard on his shot -- from 3-point range, 2-point range and at the free trhow line. He's consistent. Something that is overlooked about Jason, is he's a good defender. He guards people bigger and quicker than him, but he's always up to the task. Jason is a team captain and has shown great leadership on and off the court. He's our go-to-guy when our team has a problem or needs a basket. He has a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Because of that, you can see he's not selfish. He's just a solid player and person. He's been a joy to coach for the past four years."
