Becca Gowin
School: Scott City
Sport: Basketball
Coach: Randy White
Season Report: Gowin, who averaged 13 points per game last season, has emerged as Scott City's go-to player by leading the team in scoring with 25 points per game. She is making 50 percent of her shots, including an unbelievable 54 percent from 3-point range. Entering Wednesday's HealthSouth Holiday Classic, the 5-foot-6 senior guard had led the Lady Rams to five straight wins to open the season.
Week Report: Gowin averaged 24 points in three games last week, leading the Lady Rams to a Chaffee Tournament championship. She put in 27 points in Scott City's 56-42 win over Kelly in the title game. She also scored 29 against East Prairie in a non-tournament game.
Coach's comments: "She's extremely aggressive. She always looks to take the ball to the basket and if they stop her she'll pull up for the shot. She's just a super-hard worker. In the spring, she would try to make 500 shots and shoot until she made 150 3-pointers. If you shoot that much, you're going to have a shot. You really love to coach kids who love the game that much."
