Amber Voerg
School: Cape Central
Sport: Soccer
Coach: Tom Doyle
Week Report: Voerg, a junior center halfback, scored a game-tying goal against rival Jackson in a 2-2 game and scored two goals and had one assist in a 7-0 win over Hillsboro last week.
Season Report: Voerg, a first-team all-stater last year and an honorable mention all-stater her freshman year, was the leading scorer from last year's team which went to the state final four for the first time in school history. This year, she has scored nine goals and distributed three assists in seven games for the 5-1-1 Lady Tigers. She set the school record for goals in a season her freshman year with 26 and tied it last year. In two years, she smashed the school's all-time record of 38 goals. She has 61 career goals now and is drawing a lot of interest from college scouts.
Coach's Comments: "She works hard and has good skills and size and knows the game of soccer," said Doyle. "She's aggressive and unselfish. She's not afraid to give the ball up if someone else has a better chance to score. She's a clutch player. She has scouts salivating. I'm glad she's playing on my team and not someone else's."
