Garrett Broshuis
School: Advance
Sport: Basketball
Coach: Jim Hall
Season Report: Broshuis, a 6-foot-2 junior, has averaged 22.7 points over 10 games for the Hornets. The forward/guard, after playing mostly on the junior varsity team as a sophomore, has stepped up his play and is shooting 50 percent from 2-point range and 40 percent from 3-point land. He also provides six rebounds, two steals and two assists per outing. He has had three 30-point games this season.
Week Report: Broshuis scored 27, 30, 22 and 33 points respectively in the 16-team University High Christmas Tournament at the Show-Me Center. He was one of 10 players selected to be on the all-tournament team. Broshuis' offensive efforts led the seven-member Advance squad to the consolation finals where it lost to Scott County Central.
Coach's Comments: Hall, who coached at Dexter for 27 years before going to Advance said: "Garrett as a junior is as good of an offensive player as I've ever coached. He's very attentive, he listens to instruction and he's got the ability. He can play inside and outside. I would say his maturation that he's made in the first month of the season and the adjustment to the varsity level (is the reason for his improvement over last year). He's a very adaptable kid."
