SAN ANTONIO -- Tommy Armour III tied the PGA Tour 54-hole scoring record Saturday and extended his lead in the Texas Open to six strokes.

Armour birdied the last three holes, including a 53-foot putt on 18, to cap a 63 that left him at 21-under 189 after three rounds.

That matched the PGA Tour record set by Mark Calcavecchia at the par-71 Phoenix Open in 2001. If Armour shoots a 66 in the final round he will break the 72-hole record of 256, also set by Calcavecchia at Phoenix two years ago.

Duffy Waldorf, a two-time Texas Open champion, turned in a 62 to vault into second at 195, while Glen Hnatiuk (64), Bob Tway (67), Paul Goydos (68) and Dan Forsman (70) were all at 197.

European PGA: Lee Westwood made a 218-yard shot for a double eagle 2 on his final hole of a 10-under 62 to lead the Dunhill Links Championship by a stroke at St. Andrews, Scotland.

He used a 4-iron for his spectacular shot at the 558-yard, par-5 9th at Kingsbarns, one of three courses being used.

Darren Clarke (66) and Raphael Jacquelin (64) were one stroke behind.

LPGA Tour: Beth Daniel shot a 73, 11 strokes worse than her opening round, but that was enough to get her in a tie for the 36-hole lead with defending champion Annika Sorenstam and Cristie Kerr at the LPGA Safeway Classic in Portland, Ore.

Daniel's 10-under 62 tied the course record at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club, set by Sorenstam last year, and gave her a four-stroke lead.

Sorenstam, who had a 67, and Kerr, who had a 69, were tied with Daniel at 9-under 135.

Champions Tour: Larry Nelson's 6-foot birdie putt on the final hole gave him a one-shot lead after two rounds of the Greater Hickory Classic at Conover, N.C.

Nelson, the first-round co-leader, finished with a 69 for an 11-under 133 total at the Rock Barn course. He was one stroke ahead of Joe Inman, who shot a tour career-low 63 with nine birdies, and Bob Gilder, who also shot a 69.

James Mason (69), Craig Stadler (69) and Stewart Ginn (67) were tied for fourth at 135.
