Otahks top Arkansas St. for first volleyball win
JONESBORO, Ark. -- Southeast captured its first victory of the season Tuesday with a three games to one victory over Arkansas State.
After dropping their first three matches of the season at the Southwest Missouri State Invitational, the Otahkians cruised Tuesday. Bobbi Carlisle continued to lead the way for the Otahkians, banging out 26 kills. Jessica Houpt had 12 kills and Sarah Frost 11.
Southeast will play Friday against Bradley in the Bradley Tournament.
Sikeston racer picks up first sprint win at ATPR
BENTON, Mo. -- Jerrod Hull of Sikeston, Mo., won a $2,000 payout Saturday for his win in the sprint feature at Auto Tire and Parts Racepark.
Hull passed leader Steve Short on the eighth lap and led from there. Short was second with Jason Evans third.
Terry Baker of Scott City, Mo., led all 20 laps of the modified feature, which was completed without a caution-flag delay. It was Baker's second straight win at the track.
Shawn Haynes finished second with Greg Geiler third.
Dietrich Bollinger led all 15 laps in pure stocks for his fifth win. Deakon Bragg's second-place finish was his career best; third was Jeff Beeson.
Garrett Moll and Wesley Short of Scott City won in the cruiser class.
Stoverink, Reddick win SEMOhorseshoe events
Cori Stoverink and Carl Reddick won Sunday's event for the SEMO Horsehoe Association at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Leopold.
Larry Burford and Sondra Elfrink finished second. Third were Dan Elfrink and Virgil Schreckenberg.
Irv Vandeven and Randy Senciboy won the event Saturday at Benton Neighbor Day in Benton. Carl Reddick and Janie Raines were second with Lachelle Cook and Darryl Backfisch third.
