Otahkians remain winless on season

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Otahkians fell to 0-3 on the season after being swept t3-0 by Utah State and the host Lady Bears at the Conoco/SMS Fall Invitational on Saturday.

In their first match of the day the Otahkians fell 30-25, 30-17, 30-25 to the host Lady Bears. Senior Bobby Carlisle led the charge for the Otahkians, but was outmatched by the play of Southwest Missouri State's Erin Murphy and Linette White who had 12 and 11 kills respectively.

Southeast followed up their first match with a 30-26, 30-26, 30-27 loss to Utah State.

Carlisle led the way for Southeast throughout the tournament, scoring 46 kills, including 27 on Saturday. Sarah Frost chipped in 33 kills for the tournament.

Delta softball drops 6-1 decision to Bluff

DELTA, Mo. -- Delta fell to 0-2 on the season with an error-filled 6-1 loss to Poplar Bluff Saturday.

Sarah Cook dropped to 0-2 with the loss, allowing no earned runs, while striking out six and walking none. Tiffany Johnson provided the only offense for Delta going 2-for-3 with the lone RBI.

Delta fell to Egyptian High in their season opener Friday night 3-0.

Central softball goes 1-3 in tournament

ST. LOUIS -- Central went 1-3 in pool play over the weekend at the Cor Jesu Softball Tournament.

Central picked up its only victory Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Jackson. Laura Beard picked up the win for the Tigers. Central dropped a 2-1 decision in eight innings to Notre Dame-St. Louis in its other game Saturday. Megan McDonald allowed just three hits in going the distance.

On Friday, Central lost 9-8 to Jefferson City and suffered a 2-1 setback to Blue Springs.
