Notre Dame softball team opens with romp
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The Notre Dame High School softball team opened its season Tuesday by routing St. Vincent 17-1. The game was stopped after four innings by the run rule.
Notre Dame banged out 18 hits, including a home run, six triples and a double. Ashley Reinagel homered, had two hits and drove in three runs.
Laura Weissmueller and Whitney Ostendorf both had three hits. Sara Berkbigler tripled twice while Stacey Seyer, Sarah Michel and Alana Weismueller all added two hits. Sarah Gosche had three RBIs.
Lindsay Reinagel was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and one run in three innings. She struck out four. Robyn Beel hurled a perfect inning.
Central opens season with shutout victory
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Megan McDonald allowed just two hits as Central softball opened its season Monday with a 2-0 victory over Perryville.
McDonald struck out nine and did not walk a batter.
Samantha Elliot provided the game's big hit, a two-run double. Jessica Snell added two hits for the Tigers.
Central's JV debuted with a 10-2 victory.
