Kelly's first alumni run is Saturday

The Kelly cross country team's inaugural alumni cross country run is set for 8 a.m. Saturday with a 1-mile walk/run followed by a 3.1-mile run.

The race will cover the school's cross country course, which begins beside the elementary playground, 4035 Highway 77.

The entry fee is a powdered Gatorade or a donation to the Kelly cross country team.

Doctors-Lawyers game rescheduled for Sept. 23

The first Doctors-Lawyers Softball Game, which was postponed by rain on Saturday, has been rescheduled for Sept. 23 at Shawnee Sports Complex.

The game still is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. Proceeds benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation.

Heartland officials will meet Wednesday

The Heartland Officials Association's initial meeting will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room 107 of the Southeast Missouri State Student Recreation Center.

The topics of discussion will be rules and mechanics for baseball and softball.

The remaining meeting dates will be the first Sunday of each month beginning in October -- Oct. 1, Nov. 5, Dec. 3, Jan. 7, Feb. 4. March 4, April 1 and May 6.

All Sunday meetings will start at 6 p.m. and will be at the Student Recreation Center.

The basketball agenda will begin in October, while spring softball and baseball will begin in March.

No membership dues are payable until Jan. 1.
