Capahas manager not elected
The 2007 induction class for the National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame was announced this week on the organization's Web site.
It includes five people -- but Plaza Tire Capahas manager Jess Bolen is not one of them.
Bolen, who has a 1,304-338 record in 41 seasons, had earlier this summer been nominated for the NBC Hall of Fame for the second time.
Bolen said he was far from disappointed in not being elected.
"I really didn't even think about it," he said. "Really, I don't care about awards or accolades for myself.
"My concern is for the team to go out to Wichita and play well."
The Capahas (27-5) will host the St. Louis Kings on Sunday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. They begin play in the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kan., on Aug. 2.
